Balance Power – Special Edition!

Hello everyone! It’s Hayakawa, your dance and rhythm exercise evangelist!

So far, we've explored "Balance Power" through three main themes:

* Aligning your shoulder and hip joints in an "up-down relationship"

* Sharpening your sense of balance using tools

* Understanding your center of gravity

Do you remember them all? (If you haven't read them yet, please check out the past articles!)

There are tons of other training methods, and I'll be sharing more on my website and Instagram, so don't miss out!

Alright, today is a special edition. I'm going to introduce a slightly unusual approach.

And that is... **"closing your eyes."**

### Turn off your vision and activate your body's "sensors"!

The truth is, a large part of our balance relies heavily on "information from our eyes."

Try deliberately closing your eyes and just standing still for a moment. What happens is that other receptors (your body's sensors) that are usually dormant will wake up and start sending signals to your brain.

At first, you'll probably feel wobbly and unstable.

That's where "nasal breathing" comes in!

Stimulate your respiratory muscles with nasal breathing and try to activate your body from within. As the soles of your feet gradually grip the ground and you start to feel where your center of gravity is... your "brain" will react.

You all know where your brain is, right? But "knowing" something and "feeling" its presence are two completely different things.

### Enjoying instability, a new you

When you close your eyes, you might feel a strange sensation, like you're on a boat or floating in the ocean.

At that point, gently lift your sternum and focus on your breathing. Little by little, you'll notice your core becoming perfectly stable, even with your eyes closed.

After that, slowly open your eyes. You'll find a slightly different, more grounded version of yourself standing there than before.

This "closing your eyes" exercise is super easy to do right now, in your own room. Give it a try during a quiet moment!
